Framework of the Team A. Statement of Prayer
The prayer team has been organized to structure our efforts in a definitive mode; coordinate various persons and interests that blanket carefully the prayer needs and select individuals who are already familiar and are acquainted with the ministry of prayer.
B. Statement of Purpose
The Intercessory Prayer Team of Trinity Baptist Church seeks to earnestly and consistently pray for every individual request and need daily. This purpose will be implemented through a prayer list; prayer articles and periodicals; and a dedicated group of men and women bound to pray until the answer comes. C. Statement of Mission
The Intercessory Prayer Team of Trinity Baptist Church has determined that always before anything, and for whatever reason in everything, we shall pray. The team maintains a biblical approach to our commitment to communicate with God on a moment by moment basis in behalf of others and ourselves as well.
This team is comprised of people who already have a burden to pray; who are no strangers to the presence of a thrice Holy God, and their resolved to the yoke of lifting the needs of weary, laden warriors and sharing in the mantle of interceding for specific needs. This ministry is lead directly by the Holy Spirit according to the scripture with Jesus Christ as our Founder and example, and God the Father as our Sovereign and supreme Creator, longing for fellowship and communion with man kind.
We will serve based upon (3) areas of preparation: (1) Spiritual- The team seeks to foster spiritual growth through and by the leadership and direction of the Scriptures, the Holy Spirit, and Godly counsel having a foundation of obedience and faith in Christ. By seeking & following the Spirit’s guidance, this will develop us as individuals, as well as, a collective group to be more like Jesus on a daily basis. (2) Theological/Biblical-Our endeavor is to not only come under the heading of the local church, but formulate according to the Scripture as found in Eph. 6:18 (3) Practical-The team will seek and coordinate prayer victuals, emergency e-mails, prayer grams, and publications as well as periodicals to encourage, educate, and evaluate ourselves as to what we can do to better serve the team, further our steps and refine our efforts of ministry in prayer. Often times it will be a coordinated emphasis of public, collective prayer and scheduled meetings that will be an intentional and deliberate campaign to strengthen and develop our spiritual man as we are renewed day by day.
D. Develop Strategy For Team*Team Concept-To pray for people and their needs, petitions, requests, objects, deaths, and emergency situation on an as needed basis. Also to bathe in prayer any and every need according to the will, the way, and the word of God.*Team Members-This group of people consists of committed and consecrated individuals dedicated to a life and ministry of prayer. There will be a primary team, The Gideon 300 team comprised of literally 300 people from the immediate church family. Then there is a secondary (300 Plus) team that will share in the same lists and responsibilities as the first team, picking up the same mantle of responsibility. Anyone that is saved, committed and has a burden to pray is welcome to join. But please note: You are making an obligation to God and those you agree to pray for!*Team Endeavor-The Prayer team will be consistent and faithfully praying daily for those needs. The prayer list will be updated on a monthly, and sometimes daily basis as needed. Also a commitment to pray compels us to do so until the need or request is answered or sufficed.*Team Support-Our team is comprised of burdened, serious volunteers with a heart for revival and a real genuine move of God in our nation. The ministry office and employees are a vital, necessary part of a missionary outreach of revivals, evangelistic campaigns, tent meetings, humanitarian aid, supplies to missionaries on the fields, and disaster relief, just to mention a few. It is our desire through prayer, that this ministry may ignite and encourage some other church and ministry to carry the torch of prayer to the next generation.
Definition of Intercessory Prayer & Our Biblical Obligation
Christ was and is our great example of an interceding warrior on our behalf, as found in John Chapter 17. Christ along with the Spirit prays for the saints continually found in Romans 8: 26,27,34; and Hebrews 7:25. Therefore we draw our conclusion and definition from the greatest examples, which say intercessory prayer is,
"Approaching God on behalf of other individuals and their needs whether salvation or supplication seeking God boldly, humbly, sincerely and consistently not to weary or waver until God has issued the answer."
(Choosing rather to satisfy the spiritual, Godly, Holy nature and deny the flesh and self to pray, than to enjoy the outward, temporal, fleshly pleasures of sin for a season.)
Our obligation could be summarized in the valuable and sobering verse where Paul pleads with Timothy as he proclaims in I Timothy 2:1; "I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;" (also James 5:16).
